Mechanism of Action

NAD+ is a coenzyme involved in cellular oxidation-reduction reactions and a substrate for enzymes such as sirtuins and PARPs. Vitamin B12 is a separate micronutrient whose active coenzyme forms participate in methionine synthase and methylmalonyl-CoA mutase reactions. These roles place both ingredients in the context of cellular metabolism, but they do not establish a benefit, dosing schedule or synergistic effect for this particular combination pen.

Scientific Research

Two ingredients in one pen

The NAD+ + B12 Pen combines 1000 mg NAD+ with 4000 mcg vitamin B12 in a single pen. Both quantities refer to the whole pen. This is a separate product from the NAD+ and Vitamin B12 vials in the Milo-Lab catalogue.

Ingredient research context

NAD is studied as a metabolic cofactor and as a substrate consumed by cellular signalling enzymes. Liu and colleagues used isotope tracing to examine NAD synthesis and breakdown in cells and tissues. Their work concerns NAD metabolism, not this pen formulation. Read the study.

Vitamin B12 supports enzyme reactions involved in amino-acid and fatty-acid metabolism. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements provides an overview of its biological roles and different forms. Read the B12 fact sheet.

These sources provide background on the ingredients. They do not demonstrate that combining them in this pen produces a particular health outcome.

Product format and handling

This product is supplied in pen format. Follow its own instruction booklet for device handling, storage and expiry information. A vial reconstitution calculator cannot determine a pen setting from the listed total contents.
